Mod Loader/Garments
A garment piece can use an existing piece's panels, then add its own tags, icon, and sketches. You can replace the panels later.
Try the garment starter
Install the garment starter ZIP and restart. Night Bodice should appear in the sketchbook. It uses the Split Crew Neck Bodice panels, so you can try the tag and image fields without making a mesh.
Set baseComponent to the existing piece you want to copy. It provides the garment type, fit rules, and panels you leave unchanged. Native IDs are in BepInEx/config/DressmakerMods/garment-reference.json.
Tags, icons, and sketches
Add custom styles in garmentTags. In tagWeights, you can use those styles or native tags. Set replaceTags to replace the base piece's weights; otherwise the new weights are added to them.
The icon is the piece thumbnail. The sketch is the drawing shown in the sketchbook. Each variant can have its own sketch. If you omit an image, the loader uses the base piece's image.
Change a panel
A variant can replace panels from the base variant. For each panel, set its basePanel index. You can change the name, grain direction, bias cut, or mesh. Mesh files contain positions, UVs, and triangle indices. New geometry keeps the base piece's sewing joins and fit rules, so choose a base with similar behavior.
Test a saved dress
- Install the pack, restart, and find the piece in the sketchbook.
- Check the icon and each variant's sketch. Cut and sew the piece.
- Save a dress that uses it, restart, and open the dress again.
- Keep the pack and piece IDs the same when updating.
Field reference
The garment fields page lists the fields, panel format, tag rules, and C# registration methods. The starter notes describe the example images.
